Fatal inventory for a Lieutenant of Water and Forests, killed by a herd of elephants

This is information communicated by the Ministry of the Environment. According to the latter, Lieutenant Banafai Winy Demineyn, water and forest works engineer, reported missing on May 29 during the second national forest inventory initiated by the government, was found dead yesterday Sunday May 30, 2021 at around 10 a.m. Fazao-Malfakassa Park, not far from the village of Elavagno-Todji in the canton of M’Poti, in the prefecture of Blitta.
It is reported that during this operation the team came within a reasonable distance from the herd of elephants. However, the victim was reported missing, herself, the team leader, at the time of the post-incident rally and was reported missing and an immediate search was unable to locate him. His body will not be discovered until the next day.
